South Ocean Holdings Limited (SOH) is an investment holding company that is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and which holds investments in one operating subsidiary company and a property holding company:
SOEW was established in 1989 in King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape by Edward Pan, the former Group Chief Executive Officer. Mr Pan had a strong relationship with Taiwan, hence the company’s association with Hong-Tai Electrical Industrial Co,. Ltd (Hong-Tai) a cable manufacturing company situated in Taiwan and listed on the Taiwanese Stock Exchange
In 2001, SOEW relocated from the Eastern Cape to Gauteng to be closer to its customers and suppliers. The company acquired an industrial property in Alrode, Alberton from which it has been operating ever since. Over the years, the manufacturing plant has seen a number of upgrades and improvements and now produces at more than double its initial capacity, resulting growth from a modest start to the size it is now.

Hong-Tai became a shareholder in SOEW.
2000
SOEW bought property in Alrode, Gauteng.
2001
SOEW relocated to Alrode.
2007
SOH listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
SOH bought Radiant Group (Pty) Ltd, an importer and distributor of light fittings, lamps and electrical accessories.
2009
Group turnover exceed R1 billion.
2011
Property was acquired in Alrode adjacent to the existing premises and additional production facilities were added to expand production.
Mr. Pan, the entrepreneurial founder of the Group, retired from the Group.
2018
Group turnover exceeded R2 billion.
The Board convinced a BEE shareholder to invest in the Group and they will materially increase their shareholding in the Group over the next few years.
2019
SOH sold 100% of its shares in Radiant Group to Eurolux (Pty) Ltd.
